About the Journal

Convergencia de las Ciencias (Convergence of Sciences) is a multidisciplinary, bilingual, open-access journal that publishes double-blind peer-reviewed articles under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

It operates under a continuous publication model, ensuring the immediate availability of content following acceptance and final production.

The journal publishes research articles and reviews on a bimonthly basis in any area of knowledge, with a special emphasis on inter- and transdisciplinary approaches. It was created with the objective of disseminating original research that, through the integration of knowledge, provides rigorous and innovative solutions to complex societal problems.

The journal is committed to offering authors a fair, rigorous, and expedited evaluation process, and to providing the reading community with a selection of scientific research of verified quality. Led by an editorial committee of experienced scientists from diverse disciplines, it offers flexible formats and specific templates for each type of article, facilitating the preparation and submission of manuscripts for authors.

Convergencia de las Ciencias has a particular interest in research that transcends traditional disciplinary approaches to address complex problems from integrative perspectives. We prioritize manuscripts that demonstrate how the convergence of two or more areas of knowledge generates new understandings or practical applications, especially in emerging fields where disciplinary boundaries are diffuse.

This approach reflects our conviction that the most transformative advances frequently arise at the intersection of disciplines, where dialogue between distinct fields of knowledge allows for novel approaches. Works that exemplify this transdisciplinary nature will receive priority attention in our editorial process, as they embody the foundational spirit of the journal.

Editorial Policies

  1. Declaration of Originality This journal only considers original and unpublished manuscripts that have not been published or are under review elsewhere. Submissions that constitute duplicate publication or are substantially similar to works already available in books, conference proceedings, digital repositories, or any other public medium are not accepted. Authors must guarantee the originality of the work.

  2. Prior Disclosure Permitted Findings may have been previously disclosed in preliminary formats such as:

  • Abstracts in conference proceedings

  • Oral or poster presentations

  • Technical or progress reports for funding entities

  • Thesis chapters deposited in institutional repositories

  • Preprints in dedicated servers

In all cases, authors must declare this circumstance in the cover letter and include a full citation to the primary source on the first page of the manuscript, below the title. The Editorial Committee will evaluate whether prior disclosure is compatible with publication as an original article.

Articles based on theses or dissertations will only be considered if at least one of the article’s authors was the principal author of the original thesis. All contributors must be included. A signed statement of authorship and conflict of interest is required.

  1. Authorship and ORCID All authors must have contributed substantially to the research. Each author must specify at least three active roles (e.g., “Martínez, A.: Conceptualization, Formal analysis, Writing – original draft”). The Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) applies. A registered ORCID identifier is required for each author. No changes in authorship are allowed after initial submission.

  2. Preprint Policy The journal accepts manuscripts previously deposited as preprints in recognized repositories. Authors must declare this condition and provide the full title and DOI of the preprint.

  3. Conflicts of Interest Authors must declare any potential conflicts of interest (personal, financial, institutional) at submission. Reviewers must also disclose conflicts and recuse themselves if necessary.

  4. Academic Integrity: Plagiarism, Duplicate Publication, and Data Fabrication The journal adheres to the highest ethical standards. All submissions are screened with plagiarism-detection software. Manuscripts with ≥15% similarity (excluding references) are automatically rejected. Misconduct is investigated following COPE protocols.

  5. Ethics in Research with Humans and Animals All research involving humans or animals must comply with international ethical and legal standards.

  • Human studies require ethics committee approval and informed consent.

  • Randomized clinical trials must be registered publicly and declare funding sources.

  • Animal studies must follow ARRIVE guidelines and include ethical approval or justification.

  1. Use of Artificial Intelligence in Writing Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) must be explicitly declared, specifying the tool and sections where used. Omission or inappropriate use (>10% suspicious content) will result in rejection or retraction. AI tools cannot be listed as authors.

  2. Peer Review The journal employs a rigorous double-blind peer review system. Manuscripts are evaluated by at least two reviewers (national and international experts). Reviewers must declare conflicts of interest and submit reports within 15 business days. Final decisions rest with the Editorial Board.

  3. Copyright By submitting, authors guarantee originality and compliance with third-party rights. Works are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright but grant the journal first publication rights.

  4. Photographs and Images Digital images must be minimally edited. Patient faces must be anonymized. Previously published figures require source citation and written permission. Captions must clearly describe content.

  5. Open Access The journal operates under the Gold Open Access model, ensuring free, immediate, and unrestricted access to all published content.

  6. Advertising Advertising is permitted under strict principles of editorial independence, appropriateness, responsibility, and transparency.

  7. Article Processing Charges (APC) The journal charges an APC of 100 USD per accepted manuscript to cover editorial costs.

  • No charges apply for initial volumes while visibility and indexing are consolidated.

  • Fee waivers apply for low-income countries (per World Bank classification), and additionally for Cuba and Venezuela due to current economic and political circumstances.
